Multi-PIE stands for Multi Pose, Illumination, Expressions. It is a dataset consisting of facial images of 337 subjects taken in different poses, lighting conditions and expressions.
The pose range captures the variations in the face contour and consists of 15 discrete views. Variations in lighting conditions are simulated using 19 flashlights located in different parts of the room.
