The Chairs dataset contains rendered images of approximately 1,000 different 3D chair models.

The dataset was used to develop an example-based 3D category representation that explicitly models different styles of chairs as well as large variations in viewpoint. The authors developed a method to establish part-based correspondences between 3D CAD models and real photos, ultimately demonstrating the ability of their system to align 3D models with 2D objects in challenging PASCAL VOC images that show a variety of chairs in complex scenes.
