The SPIE-AAPM-NCI PROSTATEx Challenges Dataset is a prostate image dataset from a research challenge.
Methods: This was a retrospective prostate MRI study that included T2-weighted, proton density-weighted, dynamic contrast-enhanced, and diffusion-weighted imaging on Siemens 3T MR scanners, MAGNETOM Trio and Skyra. T2-weighted images were acquired using a turbo spin echo sequence with an in-plane resolution of approximately 0.5 mm and a slice thickness of 3.6 mm. DCE time series were then acquired using a 3D turbo flash gradient echo sequence with an in-plane resolution of approximately 1.5 mm, a slice thickness of 4 mm, and a temporal resolution of 3.5 s. Finally, DWI series were acquired using a single echo planar imaging sequence with an in-plane resolution of approximately 2 mm and a slice thickness of 3.6 mm with diffusion encoding gradients in three directions.
The related challenges for this dataset are The PROSTATEx Challenge (SPIE-AAPM-NCI Prostate MR Classification Challenge) and The PROSTATEx-2 Challenge (SPIE-AAPM-NCI Prostate MR Gleason Grade Group Challenge).
The SPIE-AAPM-NCI PROSTATEx Challenges Dataset contains 309,251 images of 346 patients and was released by the Cancer Imaging Archive TCIA in 2016. The related paper is "ProstateX Challenge Data".
