The USGS Global Earthquake dataset is a regional earthquake compilation based on seismic event data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), designed to support spatiotemporal analysis of seismic activity, regional hazard studies, and educational visualization.

This dataset covers seismic records from 1900 through 2026. Each file corresponds to an individual earthquake event, recording standard USGS fields such as magnitude, origin time, latitude/longitude coordinates, depth, and epicenter location descriptions. Geographic attributes including continent, region, and country have been added based on coordinate information. As a geographically stratified subset of the global raw earthquake dataset, this resource is organized into separate CSV files by geographic area due to monitoring policies at the USGS; earthquakes outside the U.S. below magnitude 5.0 may remain unlocated quickly unless significant damage occurs or widespread perception happens—hence smaller events might be underrepresented here compared against other sources.
