ICDAR stands for International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition. It is an international conference focusing on text recognition and video-based text analysis. Since 2003, ICDAR has established a competition with the same name as the conference, which has become the most important international event for scene recognition technology such as natural scenes and videos.

ICDAR 2017 is a dataset for scene text detection and is also the dataset used for scene recognition in this competition.
